ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, MD. (February 12, 2015) — Ironmark announces the acquisition of a $13 million book and journal publisher, United Book Press, Inc., creating a separate book publishing division for the Howard County based printing and image company.
With the acquisition, Ironmark will grow from $22 million in annual revenue to $35 million. Founded in 1989, the family-owned UBP serves a customer base of publishers, trade associations, foundations, professional societies, colleges and universities, government agencies, corporations and self-publishers. UBP will remain at its 80,000 square foot facility in Woodlawn operating under the name
“United Book Press, a division of Ironmark.” Ironmark has placed Rich Day as vice president of operations of UBP to oversee the daily activities of the company. "This is a strategic acquisition that allows us to introduce our suite of printing and marketing services to UBP’s existing customer base,” Scott Hargest, Ironmark president said, “and UBP’s web printing and book bindery capabilities are also a nice complement to our existing offerings.”
Ironmark has a range of state-of-the-art equipment in its new 52,000-square-foot facility, including two new presses: an eight-color, 40” Komori Lithrone sheetfed offset press with coater and an HP Indigo 7600 digital press. This acquisition is the latest in a series of moves by Ironmark, which relocated and rebranded last year. Frank Gumpert Printing, based in Annapolis, and Corporate Printing Solutions, based in Hunt Valley, merged in 2010 to become CPS Gumpert. In October 2014, Ironmark moved to its new headquarters facility in Howard County, consolidating its operations.
