How to Make your Site Searchable

Written by Lynne Kingsley | Jun 01, 2016
Is your business site searchable? Ranking high on search engines means steep revenue hikes for local businesses. Still, many small- to medium-sized business owners are still in the dark about taking the very first step needed to climb to the top of Google.

The Basics

How to make your site searchable? Here's the secret: Get your business location set up and verified on Google itself through Google My Business and Google Maps. Check out a quick intro video here. Get a little more here. This past week at Ironmark, our colleague and Google Agency partner Frank Clark held a training session to help local businesses in the West County Chamber get found by their own customers searching on Google.

Google My Business (rumor has it, its name will change to “Google Local Listings”) is a free tool that Frank says is the number one step in getting search engines to find your business on the web. The increased visibility that Google has placed around Google Local Listing results on mobile has meant that Google My Business is absolutely vital for local search engine optimization (SEO).

360 Virtual Tour (the holy grail of searchable)

If you’re interested in being even more searchable, and your Google My Business page is all set up, you can greatly increase your visibility in organic and paid searches by adding a Google 360 Virtual Business Tour.

A Google My Business profile with a 360 Virtual tour is not only really freaking cool (check ours out here!), but it also provides brand credibility and an exciting visual experience. And, if you check out our Google My Business page, feel free to leave us a review! (Tip: Reviews also help businesses rank higher, so ask your friends for one too).
