Exciting Expansion as New HR Director Joins the Ironmark Team

Written by Lynne Kingsley | Feb 07, 2023

As we continue to grow, we are delighted to welcome the newest member of the Ironmark family, April Perry, SHRM-CP, to join us as Human Resources Director. She has stepped into her new role to elevate and prioritize the function of human resources at Ironmark. April brings over 30 years of experience in business operations and human resources management.

Stepping Into the Role of HR Director

After many years of managing business operations in a technology and government contracting firm, Perry felt called to focus on strategic human resource management.  “I realized that engaging, supporting, developing, and recognizing its people - from prospective employees to those in leadership - is central to a company’s ability to accomplish its mission.  Engaging with team members is a priority for me, one that I truly enjoy.  Additionally, while HR encompasses the functions that many think of - benefits, pay, compliance to name a few - it also involves the establishment of policies, processes, and systems that help an organization to operate more smoothly.  I’m a problem-solver and a process-oriented person, so I really enjoy HR management,” she explains.

Ironmark President, Matt Marzullo, praises April’s approach to her role. “April’s exceptional mindset toward care and connection of our employees is exactly what we were looking for in a Human Resources Director. She is a great fit for Ironmark, and is sure to exceed our expectations.”

Perry recently completed her graduate degree in Management, with a specialization in Human Resources Management, to expand her knowledge in the field. Additionally, she holds a SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional) certification and serves as a Board Member of the Howard County Human Resources Society.  She is excited to join the Ironmark team and to lead the human resources function.

“My immediate focus is to get to know the people of Ironmark, to assess existing systems, and to take care of day-to-day HR functions and employee needs. Perry says, “I hope to ensure that all employees know that they can come to me with their questions and concerns and to get any help that they need to perform their roles to the best of their ability.” Ultimately, Perry seeks to support employees through the provision of HR functions, to partner with management and employees in the development of effective systems and processes, and to collaborate with leadership in the ongoing strategic management of the organization.

Making Connections

Relying on her business experience and utilizing HR principles, Perry is visible throughout Ironmark’s buildings and hallways, meeting with and supporting her fellow colleagues.

When she is not working, Perry loves spending time with her family.  She’s an avid sports fan - Ravens, Capitals, Duke, Maryland (if they’re not playing Duke). Perry also enjoys birding, hiking, and occasionally bicycling. She says, “ I am excited about my future at Ironmark. I’m amazed by the collaborative work of my colleagues to provide a complete spectrum of Image services and solutions to our customers, and I’m truly pleased to support our Ironmark team in every aspect of their work.”
